Thinking of Working Overseas?

Filed under: Counsel — admin @ 9:44 am

It crosses most people’s minds at least once or twice during their career, “I wonder what it would be like to go and work overseas?” Usually when stuck in traffic on the daily commute, stood at the bus stop in the rain or when it’s just time that a change is felt like it is needed. Working abroad can be an exciting, challenging but ultimately rewarding experience. Australasia, North America and Middle East recruitment specialists are appearing more common and it is not unusual to know someone who has worked or is currently working in one of these areas. The change in culture can be a challenge for some. Usually diet and general lifestyle, such as when the shops close, when public transport is available can be difficult to adjust to. If you are a particularly fussy eater for example, make sure where you will live has access to a wide range of foods. There can be great financial benefits working abroad, in some countries there are tax benefits and good salaries to be had in specialist areas. Before you take the plunge it is worth getting advice from a reputable recruiter or representative and to understand how you will be paid and what the local taxes are. If you are up for the challenge working abroad can be a life changing experience. The key is to research the country you intend to relocate to, ensure the job is the right one for you and then to go for it!
