Struggling to Lose Weight? Admit It, It’s Not Your Thyroid

Filed under: University of Medicine — admin @ 6:33 pm

The Indian “miracle” cactus Caralluma Fimbriata targets the real cause of fat gain.

70% of Americans are overweight and let’s face it - it’s not because we’re born with sluggish metabolism. It’s because we’re eating more, more often and eating the wrong foods.

We need to face that to realize why some diet pills don’t work, and why others might wreak havoc with our hormonal balance.

We’re treating the wrong cause

Most diet pills contain controversial drugs in large doses. They work by zapping up our metabolic rates to create a temporary ‘high’. This process induces ‘thermogenesis’ or heat production, which in turn burns calories.

The metabolic boost is achieved by exciting the CNS (Central Nervous System). The resulting response is similar to the “fight or flight” effect- elevated heart rate, increased excitability, and immune suppression.

The body cannot sustain this ‘high’ for long, as the increase in stress hormones leads to irregular heartbeat, emotional imbalance, and extreme fatigue.

A healthy, functioning thyroid will try to set things right by slowing down the metabolic rate. That’s when your fat-loss hits a plateau.

When you get off the pill (before or after hitting your goal weight), the low metabolic rate makes it even harder to maintain or lose weight.

Does that mean the “magic pill” does not exist?

Luckily, there are diet pills that can help you lose weight safely and permanently. They work by suppressing the appetite- and that’s where most dieters need help!

If you badly want to lose weight, but are repeatedly let down by your cravings, then these are the pills you should look into.

The key ingredient in several new diet pills on the market is Caralluma Fimbriata, a cactus that has been used for centuries in India and Africa to suppress appetite and cravings.

Plants such as Caralluma Fimbriata have a distinct advantage over lab-synthesized compounds. They mimic the action of our natural hormones and receptors, without blocking them or altering body chemistry in any way.

Prescription drugs that suppress appetite can be harmful because they are designed to block hormones that trigger hunger. This not only creates unpleasant long-term side effects such as heart and lung problems; it can also mask real hunger.

Unlike cravings, real hunger comes on slowly and is accompanied by physical symptoms such as weakness or dizziness. It is important to know the difference in order to ensure healthy weight loss.

Caralluma Fimbriata has long been used as a famine food for its appetite suppressing action. It takes the edge off your cravings and fills you up much faster without any of the unhealthy and potentially deadly side effects of prescription diet pills.

In clinical trials conducted by Gencor (Gencor Pacific, Inc., Austin, TX), the pills produced significant weight loss in most participants. In parts of India where the plant is widely consumed, people also report improved stamina and mental focus. The plant is widely recommended for diabetics.

If you seem to be fighting a losing battle against cravings, if you badly want to lose weight but are constantly betrayed by temptation … this humble cactus can tip the scales in your favor.

Pregnant With Words

Men too can give birth!

I read somewhere that writing a book is like conceiving a child. You start out with and idea of what you want to create but that idea soon takes on a life of its own and the product that emerges several months later will likely bear little resemblance to what you originally had in mind. It may even lead to a “multiple birth” if the work becomes a series as so often happens with fiction.

I have discovered that writing articles can also take on its own identity and may lead to the birth of something much larger. Like a book!

I began writing articles for www.tlc-leadership.com my own website and later submitted several articles to e-
zines in an effort to boost traffic to my site. My field is Executive and Corporate Coaching for Leadership Development, Team Building and Change Management and as the number of articles grew it occurred to me that I might be able to assemble them into a book for that niche market.

In the process of searching for information about writing and publishing a book I discovered an old book, “Acres of Diamonds” by Russell H. Conwell together with a series of articles entitled “Russell H. Conwell, His Life and Accomplishments” written by Conwell’s friend Robert Shackleton. Both of these had been published in the 1920’s and are now in the public domain, i.e. copyright expired.

I had read this book many years ago, likely in the 1950’s when it was on every bookshelf and recognized it now as a still valuable contribution to the field of inspirational and motivational literature. I realized however that the style and grammar were much out of date and many of the historic persons, organizations and events would mean nothing to a modern reader and might even cause confusion.

An idea was conceived - re-incarnation! I would bring the grammar up to date, research people, organizations and events that I didn’t recognize or knew little about - on the theory that if I didn’t know, a lot of other people wouldn’t know either.

My original intent was to publish this as an ebook — but then I came across AuthorHouse — America’s leading self publishing house - and wham, I gave birth to “Acres of Diamonds Revisited”. The cover reads, Acres of Diamonds Revisited - Including “Acres of Diamonds by Russell H. Conwell” and “Russell H. Conwell, His Life and Accomplishments by Robert Shackleton” - Modernized, Edited and Annotated by Len McNally. The book is available through all major online bookstores as well as from AuthorHouse.

While all of this was happening, I continued putting together information for a book on Motivation and Leadership Development and again the project assumed its own identity. While that book is still in the works, another book on making a major career change began to develop.

Prior to becoming an Executive and Corporate Coach, I worked as a Career Consultant and over the years, in both capacities, I have met many, many people whose lack of productivity is rooted in having made the wrong career choice. I see a lot of evidence that most people have chosen a career by abdication rather than by conscious choice. A person leaves school, finds a job and becomes locked into a career path dictated by promotions, transfers and successes in that field. Few people have ever sat down and earnestly asked, “What do I really, really, really want to do with my life?” The result is that a lot of people are working in a field where, although they may have achieved a certain amount of success, they have never had the chance to develop and utilize their dominant, innate skills and abilities.

The result is, all too often, a life with little or no challenge or excitement, a life of boredom, frustration and lethargy - a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Re-Careering will soon be ready for publication and I must soon decide whether to publish as an ebook or to once again avail myself of the considerable help and expertise of the people at AuthorHouse.

Then I will re-turn my efforts to the Coaching and Motivational book - although I am now prepared for it to once more take on its own personality and direction.

So - if you are writing an occasional article for publication - don’t be surprised if one day you realize you have 180 or 200 pages about something very different from what you started to write!

Create and Maintain a Budget

Filed under: Fortune — admin @ 7:33 am

The first step to avoiding the troubles of financial debt is to
create and maintain a budget. It’s not as intimidating as it
sounds, don’t worry.

First off, create a list of all your monthly income and also a
list of your monthly expenses. When determining income, list all
sources including alimony, child support, side jobs, etc. In
calculating expenses, be sure to include housing, food,
transportation, utilities, entertainment, etc. To gain an
accurate reflection of actual expenses, sit down each night and
write down expenses, just make sure to save receipts. Determine
if your income covers all of your expenses. If the answer is no,
then some expenses need to be reduced.

Adjust expenses. If it is a small discrepancy, it may mean
reducing some minor expenses like entertainment or cell phone
plan. If the deficit is larger, you may need to downsize your
vehicle or living arrangements. If your income covers all of
your expenses, you still may want to trim some of the excess fat
off your spending habits. This can free up extra money for
things such as vacations or college funds for your children.

Additionally, consider if you need to add new categories. Some
areas that are often overlooked are debt reduction, emergency
savings funds, and retirement savings. An emergency fund ensures
there is an adequate amount available to cover unforeseen events
(car emergency, etc), should it arise. This will eliminate the
need for using credit which can quickly damage your budget.

There are several advantages to sticking to your budget.
Firstly, most people have set financial goals that they would
like to reach in the future. Sometimes it may be a trip, a brand
new car, or a college education. A budget can help people save
money to make these goals a reality. Additionally, many people
are crushed under heavy consumer debt. Without a disciplined
pattern of spending, it is virtually impossible to make much
headway in reducing debt. A personal budget will provide the
necessary framework to begin eliminating these inflated account
balances.

If executed properly, a budget will allow a person to
simultaneously meet their expenses, place money into savings,
and pay back outstanding debts. Therefore, it is anyone’s best
interest to create and implement a budget.

Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy and Mesothelioma? Adsense Myths Discussed

Filed under: Marketing Stuff — admin @ 6:52 am

Everywhere I turn these days I’m seeing ads for websites being sold proclaiming that they’ve optimized that particular site for an outrageously priced keyword, such as Mesothelioma (a cancer of the lungs caused by asbestos). In fact, I’ll bet that if you did a search at this very moment on EBAY, you would find at least one auction for such a website, probably claiming that you’ll make thousands of dollars a month with it if purchased. But don’t send them that Paypal payment just yet, you might want to read a little further.

In fact, some companies and law firms ARE paying upwards of $100 for specific keywords in the Adwords program, but that does not mean that you, as an Adsense publisher, will receive anywhere near this payout per click. In fact, you may end up being severely penalized and paid very poorly for that search phrase.

Let’s do another search. Hop on over to Google and search the term “Mesothelioma”. As of this writing, there are over 5 million results. Just a few months ago there were far less. All this tells me is that many believed the hype, and are now competing for a very small market. Won’t they be surprised when they find out how much that click actually pays. I’ll bet it’s less than a buck.

Let’s understand one thing. Google is smart. Period. They have spent a truckload of money in developing this program. And they have made BILLIONS from it. If you had something that was making you several billion dollars a year, wouldn’t you work hard to protect the customers that were paying you? You can bet Google is, and they are watching your web traffic’s quality closely. If you’ve put up a page that is worthless to the surfer, worthless to the advertisers, and just plain worthless overall, you will be penalized for it financially.

The fact of the matter is, there’s a reason why advertisers are willing to pay an extreme cost per click for certain terms. It’s just that there aren’t very many searches for them. Some terms may only have 100 or less searches a month, internet wide! So these advertisers are willing to shell out the dough in order to get that tiny market.

But it’s just not smart business for the little guy to chase these terms. There are a ton of terms out there that pay between $1 and $5 per click that are an absolute goldmine. For example, one of the terms on this site: http://www.thegiftedone.com does quite well for me. Does it pay in the triple digits? Of course not. But I’ll take the smaller paying keywords every time. There are more searches overall for them, and more people actually looking for the content I have to offer. The result is clear. More clicks, more money.

My advice to you on this is simple. Quit chasing the myths, quit searching for that one word that’s going to pay you $500 a click. Focus on building strong websites that are informative for the surfer, and more importantly, productive to your bottom line. Then build as many of them as you can. In time you’ll see just how far a PPC program like Adsense can take you, but only if you work for it.

If you would like more information on Affiliate Websites and PPC programs like Adsense or Yahoo Publisher Network, I have set up a forum at http://www.affiliatewebsitedesign.com . It’s completely free and full of information regarding promotion of PPC targeted websites. I hope to see you there soon!

Blindness In Part Has Happened To “Christians”

Filed under: Living With Religion — admin @ 10:06 pm

For those who know the scriptures, the above title is a spin of a text in Romans 11:25, which reads, “Blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. First century Israel, who knew not the time of her visitation, (Luke 19:41-44), rejected their Messiah, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, desired a robber, Barabbas in his place, and pledged their allegiance to the Gentile king, Caesar.

The LA Times reported today that “mega-church pastors recently met in Inglewood, California, to buff their strategies for using global communications and aircraft to transport missionaries throughout the world to fulfill the Great Commission. Their ultimate aim is to wake God up from his rest, and brow beat him into bringing about a destruction of the world within the next two decades.

They are motivated by a misunderstanding of Matthew 24:14, which states that the gospel must be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations then the end would come. What can we say? The blindness has now happened to “Christians.”

The end time message of the Bible is really quite simple. In short, that movie is over. The prophecy pundits of today have missed it. They are watching re-runs, believing that they are viewing a live play.

The world-mission of preaching the gospel to all the nations, in all the world, to all the creation, etc. was completed in the first century. The Bible clearly affirms it. The end prophesied to come following its completion came, right on schedule as the Christ and the apostles predicted. Jesus said, “Assuredly I say to you, this [first century] generation would by no means pass away till all these things take place.” Matthew 24:34. The world wide evangelical mission was included in “all these things.” .

The Proof is in the Pudding.

“But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed, Their sound has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. (Romans 10:18.).

To the Colossians Paul wrote, “If indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. (Colossians 1:23)

The apostles accomplished the world-wide evangelical mission in less than 40 years without modern global communication technology and without bomb-carrying aircraft. What a horror it is to hear of “Christians” who want to bring about global war and destruction in the name of Christ, –all because they are blinded to their own bibles.

Further, in their folly, they are rushing to support an unbelieving Israel who denies the Messiah, seeking to raise red heifers in hopes of rebuilding an earthly temple, inspite of the fact that the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, (Acts 7:48-50), and the law of Moses which required the “red-heifer” is no longer in force.

Blindness in part happened to Israel because they rejected the Messiah’s first coming in the flesh (Matthew 1:23; John 1:9, 14). Blindness is happening in part to “Christians” because they have rejected the Messiah’s second coming, an event that occurred within the first century generation. This by the way, is why the bible uses imminent, at hand, very soon language to describe it. (See Romans 13:11,12, Philippians 4:5; Hebrews 10:37; James 5:7,8; 1 Peter 4:7, 17; Revelation 1:1, 3; 22:6, 10, 12.

Celebrate With Butterflies - The Flying Flowers

Filed under: Relationship Tips — admin @ 1:23 am

Make your upcoming event the most memorable ever by adding butterflies to your special day. Butterfly Releases are a perfect way to celebrate all of the important occasions in life. They are wonderful additions to weddings, anniversaries, funerals, memorials, birthdays, holidays, ceremonies, and even corporate events.

Since the butterfly symbolizes new beginnings, releasing butterflies is a wonderful way to add a special touch to celebrations. There is an old Indian legend that is often read at butterfly releases as the guests make a wish and release their butterflies.

Each release will have it’s own unique memories and can become a tradition that is passed down from parent to child. Children and adults alike will marvel as the butterflies are released into the wild. Sometimes the butterflies fly right off and sometimes they linger - maybe to share a special moment with the one releasing them.

Butterflies may be released in their own individual container or they may be released from a mass release container, depending on the occasion and the design you find most appealing. Butterflies should only be released outside on a sunny or overcast day with a temperature of around 70 degrees. A release held in a warm, sunny, flower filled area is best. Nature has given us many beautiful wonders. None are more spectacular and memorable than that of the butterfly in flight. Experience the extraordinary - Release a bouquet of butterflies at your next celebration.

Contact a butterfly farmer near you, inside your state (or nearby state if there is currently no butterfly farming operation in your state), to help you coordinate your extra special occasion for an absolutely beautiful butterfly release. www.butterflybreeders.com

Gaming Halls and Card Playing - Learning All About It

Filed under: Best Gambling, Miscellany — admin @ 1:19 am

The inconvenience of going to a real betting room gives us plenty of reasons to let it be unless one must go there. There’s no pressure for anyone to leave your house to have a go at online gaming as you can do all this from your home office if you possess a fully functional personal computer including internet access. Yet, before indulging yourself, there are a good number of guidelines that you’ll need to know about in regards to online gaming, particularly if you happen to be a tenderfoot in this area.

Don’t miss out on today’s top online gambling casino here.

The very first thing that any savvy web gamester will make sure to look for is an online gaming Web site of the sort that can guarantee the best odds. See to it the online gaming Web site is monitored by a secure and honest bookkeeping firm in order to size up the specific online games’ payout in a verifiable manner. Always ascertain that the online video poker Web site is licensed verifiably, such as by searching for the license information on the casino site’s pages. Should you be unable to ferret out any license information on that preferred online video poker Web site, don’t attempt to try your hand at that place.

Moreover, another imperative advice would be to take your chances initially in limited amounts in lieu of fritter big money off the bat. Check first the status of this online video poker operator before daring to risk some serious risk– particularly financial ones… Finally, do mind this particular remark in regards to virtual roulette. It is to always call to mind that online gambling should be about pleasurable enjoyment and much less about making big bucks. Casino gambling isn’t a vocation, but, rather a pastime that should help you feel lighthearted and your life as a whole delectable. After observing all these cues, you’re free to give yourself up to the attraction of online video poker…

“Pay Per Click Search Engines - Get The Most Bang For Your Buck”
By Al Martinovic

With Pay Per Click Search Engines becoming increasingly popular
with advertisers you need to develop different strategies to get
the most out of your money.

The best way to get more bang for your buck is to bid on
keywords that aren’t as popular and come at a cheaper price.

The key is to find as many of these keywords as you can. Submit
500-1000 of them to ensure more traffic at a cheaper price.

You can use the following when searching for these keywords:

Wordtracker http://www.wordtracker.com

Overture’s Keyword Popularity Suggestion Tool:

keywords to ensure as many clicks as you can. Use the keyword in
your title and description for a more targeted response.

Bidding on hundreds of keywords that aren’t as popular will
reduce your cost per click and give you a better Return On
Investment for your advertising dollar. Which means more profit
for you!

It is a great alternative to bidding on “pricey” popular
keywords that Won’t give you the most bang for your buck.

Putting a Home Office SOHO in Your Home

Filed under: Biz Stuff — admin @ 4:29 pm

When you need a work from home helper, one of the hardest things to get right is knowing where to run your home-based business. In your bedroom? In special home offices SOHO (Small Office / Home Office)? Well, here are a few pointers.

A Dedicated Space is Best.

I really believe that you won’t get far unless you set aside a space and use it for work only. Why? Well, if you use your work space for things other than work, then you’ll get distracted by anything you leave there. Other people in the family might become frustrated by not being able to use the space, or you might find that you simply don’t have anywhere to put all the important pieces of paper you acquire, meaning that they get lost.

The Art of the Home Office.

A home office to run your home-based business is really what you want — this really needs to be a dedicated room of a reasonable size. You shouldn’t have too much trouble if you convert a small bedroom, as most bedrooms are actually surprisingly large once you take away the bed.

Your essentials for a home office are a desk, chair, computer, filing cabinet and phone/fax. If you don’t have spare ones of these lying around then you should buy them used, or from some kind of discount store — don’t spend a cent more than you need to on your office furniture and equipment, at least to begin with. Still, though, do try to find things that don’t look too bad, and that match.

Do make sure that you have everything in the room that you’ll need for your business, and that your equipment is good enough that you’ll be able to use it for long periods of time without it becoming painful. If you plan to do a lot of phoning, for example, buy a headset so that you can do it hands-free. It’s also worth spending just a little extra on that chair, if you’re going to be sitting on it a lot.

You should also make sure that the room is well-lit and decorated in a style you like: one that says ’serious’, but not ‘dull, terrible work’. Keep it at a comfortable temperature, with good ventilation. Many work from home helper like to make their home offices Soho for home-based business visibly different to the rest of their house, by having a differently-coloured carpet or wooden floor, or painting the walls an entirely different colour. Whatever you do, though, I have no doubt that it’ll be better than 99% of the corporate offices out there. The most important thing is that you don’t spend too much, but that you make sure to solve any problems you have with your space as soon as they come up.

A Whole Other Building.

One thing that some people like to do when they set up home offices Soho is to make it completely separate from their house: a business annex. This could be expensive — for goodness’ sake don’t build a whole other building if you don’t have something like a shed or garage to convert — but it is also one of the most effective helper to work from home. It’s not so much a ‘home office’ as an office that you’ve built right next to your home — and it gives you a much clearer sense of when you’re working on your home-based business and when you’re not.

This option is especially worth considering if you do a manual trade, especially if you already have some kind of workshop space. I knew a carpenter who saved himself all sorts of headaches when he moved his home office away from his bedroom and into his existing workshop in his garage.

A Question of Tax.

When you’re organising your home office, don’t forget about tax. The area of your house that you do business in should be tax-deductible, and so should any equipment you buy or other work you have done. Don’t use it as an excuse to get carried away, but do remember that you’re not spending quite as much as you think. As long as you don’t go overboard, your home office will be one of the most important investments you will make — as anyone who’s ever tried to work from home without one can tell you.
